"It's been over 2 years since renowned hip-hop star Macklemore graced London with his presence, and tonight he returned to Brixton Academy in full glory. With a full band in tow he storms the stage to the unbelievable noise of screams and applause - clearly a welcome return
It doesn't take long for the onslaught of top tracks to enter our ears, starting with the fitting opener 'Ain't Gonna Die Tonight' from new album GEMINI and flying through more until the moment everyone has been waiting for - 'Thrift Shop'. Macklemore dashes around the stage, a powerful performer with boundless energy that ripples through the crowd elevating the atmosphere to ridiculous levels. Eventually the people settle, with Macklemore leading into tear-jerker 'Same Love' with a short speech about Donald Trump and the bigotry that lives in our society - which of course causes endless cheers of support from the entire venue.
'Corner Store' and 'These Days' (accompanied by a delighted Jess Glynne) get the crowd back in a joyful spirit ready for more highlights. For 'Dance Off' Macklemore invites two ladies to the stage to 'dance off' in front of 5000 people - which they do incredibly to their credit. The main man then treats us to a run of 'Can't Hold Us', 'Good Old Days', 'Downtown' then 'Glorious' - an unbelievable end to a monumental set of hits."
